How the Time Zone Feature Works #

The Time Zone feature in Dormefy allows you to set your dormitory’s local time zone, ensuring that all transactions, activities, and system operations run accurately. This feature is crucial for your dorm settings because all transactions (such as deposits) and activities (like quarter starting or closing) depend on your local time to work correctly.

Without setting the right time zone, your dormitory system could face confusion with mismatched transaction times, leading to errors in records and misunderstandings among dorm members. For instance, if you set the wrong time zone, deposit transactions and quarter starts/ends will be logged at the wrong time, causing confusion for both you and your dorm members.

How to Set Up Time Zone #

When creating a dormitory in Dormefy, you’ll be prompted to set the Time Zone as part of the setup process. This option will be visible on the “Create Dorm” page under Time Zone.

If you need to update the time zone after creating the dorm, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Dormitory > Dorm List.
2. Click the Edit icon for the desired dormitory, whether you manage one or multiple dorms.
3. On the Edit Dorm page, locate the Time Zone field.
4. Select your local time zone from the dropdown menu.
5. Click Update to save your changes.

After completing these steps, your dormitory’s time zone will be set, and all future transactions and activities will be accurately logged based on your local time.
