Key Feature Overview: #
In shared living environments, managing member status is crucial. Dormefy’s Activate or Deactivate a Member feature allows dorm managers to temporarily or permanently deactivate members when necessary. This feature ensures that all meal counts and personal balances are adjusted to zero before the member is deactivated, preventing any unresolved operations.
How the Feature Works: #
If a dorm owner or manager wants to delete or temporarily deactivate a member, Dormefy requires the member to be deactivated first. Dorm managers can deactivate a member by going to the Members section, adjusting the member’s meal count and personal balance to zero, and then toggling the status to inactive.
Deactivation prevents the member from participating in any dorm-related operations, but they will still remain listed in the dorm system.
How to Deactivate a Member: #
- In the Dormefy Admin Dashboard, go to the Members section from the left sidebar.
- Find the desired member in the member list.
- In the Status column, click the toggle button to deactivate the member.
- If you see a toast notification saying, “Adjust deposit and meal counter to ‘0’ before member deactivation,” this means you must set the member’s meal count and personal balance to zero before deactivation is possible.
Once the meal count and balance are adjusted to zero, you can successfully deactivate the member.
How to Delete a Member: #
If a member needs to be permanently removed:
- Go to the Dormefy Admin Dashboard and select Members from the left sidebar.
- Find the member you want to delete.
- In the Action column, click the trash icon and confirm the deletion.
Important: All meal counts and personal balances must be adjusted to zero before deactivation, and deactivation must be completed before deleting the member.
How to Reactivate a Member: #
- Go to the Dormefy Admin Dashboard and click on the Members section in the left sidebar.
- Locate the member you want to reactivate from the member list.
- In the Status column, toggle the button back to Active to reactivate the member.
- Once reactivated, the member will immediately resume participation in all dorm activities, including meal management and cost sharing.
Note: A reactivated member will start contributing to all dorm-related operations as soon as they are activated, ensuring their full participation in dorm functions.
Member Status: #
- Active: The member is fully involved in dorm-related activities and costs.
- Inactive: The member remains listed in the dorm but is not involved in any dorm functions or costs. This status can be used for members taking a short break or before they are permanently deleted.
Why do I see a toast notification that says, “Adjust deposit and meal counter to ‘0’ before member deactivation”? #
Dormefy requires that a member’s meal counter and personal balance be set to zero before they can be deactivated to ensure no pending operations remain. This prevents incomplete tasks or transactions from affecting dorm management.
Can I reactivate a deactivated member later? #
Yes, deactivated members can be reactivated at any time. Once reactivated, they will resume participation in all dorm-related operations.
Dormefy’s Activate or Deactivate a Member feature simplifies the process of managing member status, ensuring smooth dorm operations and helping dorm managers stay organized.
